Actor Eric Bana is the leading contender to play the role of Nick Stone in an upcoming feature film adaptation of an Andy McNab’s espionage novel series. Hyde Park Entertainment nabbed the rights to the novel series in March and has tapped John Connor to write the script and produce the project.
McNab’s 12-book novel series follows an ex-SAS soldier through a string of espionage missions. The group behind the project will first adapt the novel “Firewall†and rename it “Echelon†for the big screen. In the film Stone fights to stop a terrorist organization from gaining access to the largest computer intelligence database in the world. McNab (whose real name is unknown) no doubt draws from real life experience having himself been a member of Britain’s SAS. He was Britain’s most decorated soldier during the Gulf War and was held captive and tortured by Iraqis for six weeks.
Bana just finished his work on “Hanna†and is preparing for a role in “The Emperor’s Children.†He is also rumored to be in the running alongside Colin Farrell for “By Virtue Fall.â€
